prAna was acquired by Columbia Sportswear Company (CSC) in June, 2014 and is part of the family of brands in the CSC portfolio, including Columbia, Mountain Hardwear and Sorel. prAna is headquartered in Carlsbad, California and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear Company.


Overview of the Position:


As a Sourcing Analyst, you will aid in the development of the source strategy and execution of the seasonal source plan for the prAna brand .  Your focus will be on placing the right product at the right factory for effective capacity utilization, maximized profitability, and ultimately, delivery of the Brand promise.  You will partner with the product creation teams to understand the brand direction and in-season business needs, and partner with the global sourcing network to ensure optimal leverage of source base and group knowledge.  You will also be instrumental in creating reporting and data analytics to drive fact-based decisions.


You will be a goal-oriented, results-driven individual while also being grounded, authentic, and humble with strong passion for the outdoors and an active lifestyle. This position will be based in Carlsbad, CA.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of the seasonal and long-range raw material and apparel source strategies
  • Manage the seasonal source plan in collaboration with prAna Global Sourcing Manager, considering vendor development capability, production capabilities and capacity, and seasonal product development timelines
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of sourcing-related reporting and data analysis tools
  • Collaborate with the Product Development team to understand brand profitability metrics and influence and partner with vendors to achieve desired results.
  • Build awareness of regional material capabilities and resources. Ensure alignment of apparel and material sourcing strategies.
  • Understand the capabilities and performance of vendors in the supply base.  On an ongoing basis, create, analyze and monitor reports on the performance of the source base. Lead distribution of seasonal vendor scorecard to supply base.
  • Consult with product creation team and other CSC brands on in-season needs. Monitor and resolve factory capacity constraints in collaboration with Planning throughout the seasonal lifecycle. 
  • Build relationships and effectively partner with internal and external partners, suppliers, and colleagues to influence change.
  • Update and maintain vendor profiles and compliance documents within the systems. Manage upkeep and distribution of vendor operating manual to supply base to ensure prAna standards and processes are clearly defined.
  • Keep up to date on global apparel trends, trade regulations, and company direction to maximize profitability and determine new source opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position has significant interaction with many areas within prAna and with CSC Sourcing, necessitating strong communication and relationship-building skills.  This position has deep working relationships with the following constituencies:

Minimum Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

 
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • College degree in business, apparel/textiles, manufacturing, or related experience
  • Knowledge of garment manufacturing including, sourcing, costing, compliance logistics, distribution, and planning operations.  Possess working knowledge of materials and functional aspects of garments. 
  • 3-5 years of experience in apparel or other soft goods sourcing, development, merchandising, production, or a manufacturing environment. 
  • Foundational understanding of global trade agreements and trade regulations.
  • Ability to work well with individuals of different countries and cultures.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Understands ambiguity and can work in an evolving environment
  • Ability to deal with work and time pressures to accomplish job requirements in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, high proficiency in Excel
  • Requires an ability to read, write, and speak English, within daily activities and ability to communicate with vendors and employees globally

Travel/Schedule Requirements:
International/domestic travel up to 20%.

Physical Requirements:

Employee must be able to perform essential functions of position with or without reasonable accommodations. Environment is a typical office setting plus varying settings associated with domestic and international travel and meetings. Job typically involves continuous sitting, speaking face-to-face and by phone, and use of computer equipment. Must be physically able to lift or carry up to 10 lbs.
