As an Industrial Engineer III at our Distribution center located in Robards, KY you will evaluate production standards; conduct cost comparison studies and feasibility studies; and develop plant layouts, plant scheduling, and production routing procedures.  You will also develop plant systems and methods, maintain staffing and cubing models. This roles also requires you to recommend equipment to ensure the most economical processing, storage and retrieval of material, and automated material handling equipment.  Also you will contribute to positive morale by developing strong working relationships that build alignment. As well as develop and manage cross-functional and interdepartmental projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Use engineering expertise to review and analyze current automated material handling equipment and recommend changes and improvements that increase productivity and contribute to cost efficiency
  • Use project management skills in key, high level assignments involving design and development of new plant facilities, plant layout, production operations, and implementation of material handling systems
  • Analyze production operations, determine and specify the most efficient operator methods, stock positioning, crew size, and individual workstation assignments
  • Conduct work measurement studies using standard data, MOST, and other acceptable methods to establish operational and production standards.  Results are applied to both direct and indirect job functions and used to design, develop, and implement incentive programs which reward employee effort and contribute to plant efficiency
  • Conduct studies and analyze various production operations; develop the most efficient material handling methods from the standpoint of equipment, machine capacities, tooling, setups, etc., on new products or new or changed methods necessitated by new equipment, engineering changes, or special requirements
  • Oversee contract consultants and technical service providers, engaged in process and production improvement projects
  • Review and analyze operations to determine best flow of information and materials within and between departments
  • Be the subject matter expert supporting the Lean/Six Sigma program
  • Coordinate with Work Force Optimization team on developing/maintaining/reviewing Engineered Work Standards and the Labor Management system
  • Create, Manage and track cost reduction projects
  • Create Ad Hoc reports as requested. Most requests will be of a data mining nature
  • Maintain and create CAD drawings
  • Maintain Labor and Staffing models
  • Monitor and provide support for teamwork process at the facility. Includes developing and maintaining team standards, recording performance and quality statistics, assisting teams in problem solving and decision making, promoting development of methods within teams and coaching development and assisting the development and review of rates
  • Develop and submit budgets for all areas of responsibility including cost justifications for capital equipment
  • Select and manage vendors and procure production equipment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Industrial Engineering. Mechanical/Electrical working knowledge is a plus.
  • Requires 5 - 7 years of experience relevant to application of industrial engineering methods and tools, warehouse operations process improvements and efficiencies, and project management concepts in a distribution center environment
  • Working knowledge of industrial engineering processes and practices, advanced mathematics including statistics, administrative management and supervisory techniques, warehouse design and layout, Warehouse Management and Warehouse control systems
  • Preferable industry experience is in apparel or other consumer products. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing process improvements
  • Successful project management experience
  • Working knowledge of Labor Management systems, preferably Manhattan LMS
  • Proficiency in Auto Cad LT
  • Proficiency in Engineered Work Standards, preferably in Basic MOST and the Labor Pro application
  • Working knowledge of OPEX/Lean/Six Sigma, preferably Green belt certification
  • Experience with Simulation software, preferably Simcad
  • Experience with Labor staffing and cube utilization models
  • Data mining capabilities – SQL experience
  • Experience with material handling equipment
  • Wholesale, Retail and E-Com distribution experience strongly preferred
  • Selection and management of vendors including basic service contracting and purchasing
  • Use engineering skills to analyze costs related to all aspects of production operations
  • Read and analyze mechanical drawings and design various equipment and construction technical drawings
