Major Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance for all warehouse and office equipment to ensure proper operating conditions. 
  • Equipment includes conveyors, racking, lighting, security, forklifts, material handling equipment, fire protection and plumbing systems.
  • Maintain logs of all preventive and breakdown maintenance performed on conveyors, forklifts and fire protection systems.
  • Perform light janitorial duties and other duties as assigned.
  • Complete tasks assigned by Maintenance Supervisor/Manager. 
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed in a safe, timely and correct manner.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
  • Ability to cope with a stressful work environment and cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
Secondary Functions:
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally lift/carry over 60 pounds.
Job Scope:
Job involves recurring work situations with frequent variations from the norm.  Job involves a high level of detail and complexity for general duties and a high level of detail and complexity for conveyor system.  Incumbent operates from some established policies and procedures.  Duties are performed with only general directions under minimal supervision.  Work is checked or verified by results.  Decisions are made within general department and company guidelines.  Errors in judgment can result in equipment downtime and lost productivity for the Distribution Center.  This can adversely affect the company image and revenues by delaying the delivery of goods to the customers.  Errors may also compromise the safety of the Distribution Center employees.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Interpersonal Contacts:
Contacts are normally made with others inside the organization.  Internal contacts include other department members.  Interactions tend to focus on information exchange and receiving directions.  Contacts never contain confidential/sensitive information.  Incumbent may occasionally initiate contacts on his/her own with the majority being via face-to-face interaction.

Specific Job Skills:


·     Possess good working knowledge of practices regarding hazard communication, chemical usage, material safety data sheets, lock out/tag out, emergency evacuation procedures and emergency generation procedures. 

·     Possess intermediate computer skills. 

·     Ability to read, write, and speak English. 

·     Mental ability to conduct interpersonal interactions with company personnel. 

·     Possess good verbal communications skills. 

·     Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb stairs and use ladders, sit and stand for extended periods of time, and regularly lift/carry up to 40 pounds. 

·     Ability to use a variety of hand and powered tools, and possess an aptitude for mechanics.

·     Ability to move freely through the distribution center.


Education and/or Experience:

High school education or equivalent.  Experience maintaining warehouse equipment required. 


Job Conditions:

Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priority projects.  Exposure to Distribution Center machinery/equipment such as conveyor belts, forklifts and loading docks.
